Hey all, I didn't see a thread in the resources section that had places to obtain and tutorials of software programs necessary to the cause (I figure something of that nature should be stickied so that everyone can produce these video products at the highest quality) So here is the list of software that I use as well as basic tutorials or each program. Thread will be updated as I proceed to create these tutorials/add additional info and software

Windows Media Player Classic:

Tutorial:

1. open your video file. Click on File > Quick Open File…


2. click on File > Save Thumbnails…


3. This brings up the Save As dialogue box.



4. Change the settings to how you see fit... This determines the size of the thumbnail page and how many thumbnails will be generated.

The above setting shows there will be 4 columns and 4 rows of thumbnails totaling (4×4=) 16 thumbnails. And the thumbnail page width will be 1024 pixels.

Now lets change the setting to have 6 rows and 5 columns of thumbnails totaling (6×5=) 30 thumbnails. Also setting the thumbnail page to be of width 600 pixels.




The image should be saved as .png (not .jpg) to reduce the file size, but preserve clearity.





Click on the Save button to save it.

Easy Way to Record Audio:

Buy a Male - Male Audio Cable as pictured below:

Connect one end into your audio out port (use a splitter so you can use headfones to hear as well)
Connect the other end into the mic jack (MAKE SURE YOUR MIC SETTINGS ARE TURNED OFF FOR THE CAM SESSION so they dont hear themselves)
Select record audio on camtasia from the mic. and you will record their sounds.

Ok, a question for all the veterans here. I downloaded prism and finally had some alone time when i could start converting my huge files to a more manageable size. When I opened prism, It is asking for a key as the trial period expired :( Does anyone have a key to share? Or have other conversion software ideas? I have about 100+ videos that I want to start sharing and can't until I get them reduced...

This is my first, post so hi to everyone!
I'm loving this guide but I'm having trouble with VirtualDub. My problem is that the codec you use to compress doesn't show up in my VDub, can you help me out with this please? Do I need to separately download the codec from somewhere?
