New CR hack to allow fake webcams again! (Windows users)

Hi all!

So it came to my attention that my fellow fake vid users have been blocked out by the Russian. While I personally don't use CR, I feel its unfair that the rest of you would be blocked.. However I DO ask that we keep this method private to elongate its usefulness!

Once again, USA proves its superiority to USSR.

These directions are for Windows XP, but should equally apply to Vista or 7 with the possibility of having to click OK and Allow more often...

Does not Work in my Windows 7.

Error:

Charles failed to connect to the remote host. Check that your Internet connection is ok and that the remote host is accessible. Maybe your network uses a proxy server to access the Internet? You can configure Charles to use an external proxy server in the External Proxy Settings.
The actual exception reported was:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

Verify that wamp-server is running. It creates a taskbar icon, if you click it you can choose Apache->Service->Test port 80

ok, so it worked for a second.. now its stopped. it says my wampserver is offline

yea.. it worked for about a second, and now it wont work again. i followed everything step by step, restarted everything, made sure everything online.. im on xp with ie8

wamp server will have to be running for it to work, and answering requests on port 80. Use that test I outlined above to verify.

this is great stuff, it seems like i got everything working on the directions. only thing is when i go to Chatroulette it tells me "you are using an old version of the site, clear your cache and reload the page." going to chatroulette.com tells me to enable my camera.

I don't have access to a Mac to develop this method for unfortunately, but most of it should be the same. All it takes is Java, Charles, and a local http server.

If we have a high level Mac user around, I would be happy to work with them to develop instructions for the Mac, btw... But not being a Mac user I need someone with some solid skills.

We have the same prob.. i changed the dir.wf but nothing has happened.. Its the same error..

yeah, it worked last night, but is not working again, looks like the russian did it again. i'm sure nbuzard will figure it out if he feels like it.

Is it possible I uploaded the wrong one? Seems like it, the one I'm using is 2 bytes longer than the one I just downloaded my my last post. Try this:

just tried this one out and it doesn't seem to be working. it doesn't give the message that it is the old site though and it gives the same message as when going to chatroulette.com as opposed to Chatroulette , hopefully you can figure it out.

well seems i don't know how to edit my post, but it does seem to be working now, thanks a lot.

...and not working again. message is : "you will be connected automatically when you enable your camera". just ten minutes ago, i got the same message, but then it connected anyway, now it has been sitting a while and not going through.

Works for me still. Try switching your cam input device a couple times and see if it moves. In my testing it seems like you spend a lot of time on "switching", but thats not anything specific to my hack!

I haven't pulled it, I just tried the link and it is still working for me. Maybe a hiccup at megaupload??
